Want a waterproof Android phone without breaking the bank? Well,
good luck on that. At least, that's how it used to be. Not anymore
with the ZTE Reef, a new budget waterproof Android smartphone on Virgin
Mobile.
Boasting IPX7 certification, the phone can keep water out of its guts
in depths of up to one meter for a straight 30 minutes. That way, even
if you drop it while trying to take selfies in the swimming pool,
you'll be fine. Just make sure to pick it back up before half an hour
passes or you're in trouble.
Details of the ZTE Reef include a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen
display (800 x 480 resolution), a 5.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, a
1.0 megapixel front-facing video cam, aGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, HSPA,
microSD card support (up to 32GB), and a 1,650 mAh battery (with a rated
talk time of 9 hours). Muscle is provided by a 1GHz processor.
It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with the full roster of Google Mobile
Services, as well as Virgin's roster of services like Mobile Feed and
Mobile ID Packs. Dimensions are 5 x 2.55 x 0.44 inches (h x w x d), with
a weight of 4.5 oz.
The ZTE Reef is available now, priced at $149.99 off-contract.
