LG G Flex Announced

Written By segoart on Thursday, August 15, 2013 | 7:25 AM

Every time Samsung comes out with something fresh, LG always trails behind doing something similar.  It's something we've come to expect from the two smartphone manufacturers based out of South Korea.  And since Samsung came out their curved phone a while back, LG characteristically follows with the LG G Flex.
Measuring 160.5 x 81.6 x 7.9 mm and weighing 177 grams, the handset has dimensions and heft similar to the current crop of phablets in the market.  Except, of course, it's got a curved display.  Rather than arc from side to side as Samsung's however, LG's device does the curving trick from top to bottom, making for a genuine banana shape for whatever reason LG's designers came up with.  According to LG, the shape supposedly brings an optimized curvature that delivers improved voice and sound quality during calls.
Details of the LG G Flex include a 6-inch curved plastic OLED display (1280 x 720 resolution), a 13 megapixel camera module, a front-facing 2.1 megapixel camera,  aGPS, LTE-A, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 32GB of onboard storage, microSD card expansion, and a 3,500 mAh battery.  Muscle is provided by a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM.
Aside from the curved screen, the smartphone comes with an entirely new user experience, which combine old features like KnockON, Guest Mode, and Plug & Pop with new ones, such as QTheather, Dual Window, Swing Lockscreen, and Face Detection Indicator.  It also get sthe Rear Key that appears to be a thing LG will be doing from now on.
The LG G Flex will be available in Korea starting November.
