Nokia has announced a new affordable smartphone. Called the Nokia
Lumia 525, it's the Microsoft subsidiary's follow-up to the widely
popular Lumia 520.
As a successor to the 520, it doesn't veer too far from the similarly
mid-range smartphone. It takes on near the same dimensions (119 x 64 x
9.9 mm), with a similar styling. This time around, however, it comes
with changeable covers in black, orange, yellow and white colors.
Details of the Nokia Lumia 525 include a 4-inch IPS LCD (800 x 480
resolution), a 5.0 megapixel camera (no flash), aGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth
4.0, HSPA, DLNA, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card support, and a
1,430 mAh battery (rated at 10.6 hours of talk time). Muscle is
provided by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, paired with 1GB of
RAM.
It runs Windows Phone 8 with the Lumia Black update. It comes with
Nokia's standard navigation apps (HERE Drive, HERE Maps, and HERE
Transit), camera apps (Smart Camera, Cinemagraph, Panorama, and more),
enterprise security features, and 7GB free SkyDrive could storage.
No pricing or release dates have been announced for the Nokia Lumia
525. Given the Lumia 520's previous pricing, though, it would be fair
to expect around $250 or less before taxes and subsidies.
