You consider yourself an early adopter of everything 4K -- you've got your 4K TV, your 4K media player, and your 4K video camera.  And you've been wondering when you can add a smartphone to that collection.  Well, the time is nigh with the official announcement of the Acer Liquid S2.
The first handset to come with 4K video recording capabilities, the handset's 13.0 megapixel camera also boasts an 88-degree wide viewing angle and a BSI sensor for sharper shooting ability in any environment.   On top of that, it comes with a LED ring flash, 1080p recording at 60 fps, and a load of other camera features.
Other details of the Acer Liquid S2 include a 6-inch IPS display (1920 x 1080 resolution), a 2.0 megapixel front-facing video cam, GPS + GLONASS, WiFi, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB of onboard storage, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus, and a 3,300 mAh battery module.  Muscle is provided by a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM.
Physically, it features a case measuring 8.99 mm thin, soft round curves, red accents and a curved glass surface.  It runs Android 4.2.2, with Acer's Float UI running on top.  Acer will throw in the load of their proprietary apps on the thing, including Acer HD Channel, Acer Docs and Acer Remote Files, AcerData Traffic Manager, Acer Float Caller, Acer Print, and more.
As with many of the company's handsets, the Acer Liquid S2 is aiming for release at Europe.  Availability is slated for the end of October, with pricing yet to be announced.
