The second of two new phones Nokia is introducing today is the
company's latest flagship. Called the Nokia Lumia 1520, the handset
combines a phablet-size display with all the high-end hardware the good
old Windows Phone can handle.
Like the budget Lumia 1320, this one comes with a supersized 6-inch
display. Unlike it, though, it supports full 1080p resolution, allowing
Windows Phone to show an extra row of live tiles to take advantage of
all the screen real estate. It will come decked in Nokia's surprisingly
premium-feeling polycarbonate shell (that's even recycled to boot) in a
variety of color options (yellow, black, red, and white).
Details of the Nokia Lumia 1520 include a 6-inch ClearBlack LCD
(1080p) with the same super-sensitive touch panel as Nokia's newer
releases, a PureView 20 megapixel camera with Zeiss optics, optical
image stabilization and dual LED flash, a 1.2 megapixel front-facing
video cam, 32GB of internal storage, microSD card support up to 64GB,
GPS, LTE, HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 3,400 mAh
with integrated wireless charging support. Muscle is provided by a 2.2
GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 2 GB of
RAM.
Phone dimensions are 162.8×85.4×8.7 mm, with a weight of 209 grams.
It runs the GDR3 version of Windows Phone 8, which offers support for
large screens and quad-core processors.
Sales for the Nokia Lumia 1520 starts before the year's end. Price
is $749 before taxes and subsidies. For the US, it be sold come
exclusively under AT&T.
