Google announced the release of their newest smartphone. Called the
Nexus 5, the LG-manufactured handset is the first-ever device to run
Android 4.4 KitKat.
instead of the last model's primarily glass construction, the new
smartphone comes decked in polycarbonate with a "silky texture." The
front is covered in edge to edge glass, giving the handset a premium
feel. Phone dimensions are 5.43 x 2.72 x 0.34 inches, with a weight of
4.59 ounces.
Details of the Nexus 5 include a 5-inch LCD display (1920 x 1080
resolution), an 8.0 megapixel camera, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel video
cam, aGPS, daul-band WiFi, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, two storage options
(16GB and 32GB), a 2300 mAh battery (rated at up to 17 hours of talk
time), and wireless charging out of the box. Muscle is powered by a
quad-core 2.3GHz processor, paired with 2GB of RAM.
As we said, it runs Android 4.4 KitKat, along with all the new
changes in the updated platform, which includes the smaller memory
footprint, allowing it to be used even with phones running on just 512MB
of RAM. The phone also boasts a much-improved camera, with features
that include optical image stabilization and HDR+.
The Nexus 5 is available now directly from Google Play. Prices start at $349.
